BACKGROUND

During my Master's at UCD, I completed this project as an assignment where I proposed a futuristic technology. Initially presented as an advertisement video, I later, decided to extend the concept into an app form.

THE CONCEPT

I got an inspiration while working at Aldias a student, when a speech-impaired customer needed help finding a product. Her translator conveyed the message to me in spoken English.

This experience made me realise the communication challenges faced by disabled individuals on a daily basis, restricting their ability to communicate independently.

THE PROBLEM

  1. Constant dependency (Visual and Personal)

  2. Availability of a Translator

  3. Such strategies that are effective for simple transactional purposes (Kusters, Citation-1)Citation-2) are not when more in depth communication is required; for example when accessing public services or fulfilling professional roles.

  4. Communication rift between individuals Sign Langua Users and Non- Sign Language Users.

  5. Non-native sign languages.

UI DESIGN

I attempted to keep the interface fun yet functional.  I decided to design the interface by experimenting with the latest trends of 2023/2024. I follwed a playful, 3D approach of design.
